EM: Day Two

Working in the rain
DAY TWO: Tuesday, March 16, 2010

Tuesday arrived, and with it a 90% chance of rain.

When I drove up at 9am, it was a light drizzle, and I was hopeful the sun might prove all the weathermen wrong yet again.

Unfortunately, even as the thinned-out but persistent group of 30 or so workers slogged through the mud and puddles, the rain only increased through the morning. The crew - led by Pastor Clifton - kept at the task, dropping hay to soak up the ground water, laying out boards to stand on, and nailing in the plywood on the four sides of the building. Even with the chilly and wet day, they were able to get the project to where they wanted it.

Meal time!
By noon, they were ready to go dry off, get changed, and enjoy another wonderful lunch at Anderson Mill Baptist church. Today they had great cheeseburgers, potato salad, and a huge assortment of desserts to choose from. Susan and Jane and many other workers prepared wonderful meals for us yesterday and today. Tina Yuen will also assist in the meals for the rest of the week.

Because of the ongoing downpour, after lunch, we called it a day. Tomorrow we would go at it again. All in God's timing...

Our goal tomorrow: Getting the trusses for the roof all laid out.
