EM: Day Three

DAY THREE: Wednesday Mar 17, 2010
Today was the day we put up over 32 trusses for the roof.
The crane clamped onto the ground early in the morning and hoisted up these huge trusses into the sky.
It was fantastic to see these trusses lifted high into the sky and maneuvered into position.
Then, the workers set it onto the building and secured it. Some guys were hammering away for hours way above the ground level.
Meanwhile, the rest of the crew, especially the youth, moved plywood around and nailed it to the sides of the building. Most of the building is now enclosed with wood. We're hoping to do some windows and doors tomorrow.
By the end of the day, the church building was taking more and more of its final shape.
We celebrated with songs and testimonies at the work site at 7pm, after dinner.
We sat around the building and looked out to the heavens above the open roof and wrote verses and thoughts onto the beams at ground level. We were overwhelmed with thankfulness for all God has been doing this week.
God has been so gracious!!!
Tomorrow, we'll work on decking for the roof, shingles, and possibly windows on the sides.
